Truyu Logo

The brief required the logo to be ‘modern’ and not stereo typical. I have interpreted this and created a logo that is functional on its own but is also easily applied to multiple different products, collateral and branded items. One of the key features of the logo is that it has to be able to work of cosmetics packaging this, although as of yet not achieved, is the reason behind the portrait style.

Letter Pressing

This is such a cool process, it gives an effect that cannot be produced using digital printing methods, we tested lots of different waits of paper and different packing to get the perfect print.

Setting type for business cards

The buisness cards we want to make need to represent the studio as a print based studio, so it makes sence to have contact details letter pressed on the reverse. Again down the road at Vernon I got to work on setting the type ready to print.

Embossing

Unfortunatly the embossing plate was left in the asid solution for too long and therefore went through the copper, we had a go at embossing with it regaurdless and concidering the state of the place I was pleasantly supprised by the result althought not perfect and we have made another it gave a good representation of what this method could produce.

Etching

After having my tutorial with Amber and we had disscussed the disadvantages and our dissapointment with lazer cutters we spoke about etching into copper to create a much more accurate embossing plate. I took this on board and went down to Vernon street and spoke to the guys down there they were incredably helpful and spoke us through the entire thing from start to finish.

Lazer Cutting 2

After some deliberation, and a degree of unhappiness with the previous results we decided etching on the lazer cutter was a much better way to go, this gave a much more accurate image without the fiddly bit of sticking individual letters down. However due to the nature of the way we had to use the lazer cutter it required a rastered image and the lazer cuts in straight lines therefore the cut gave a slightly pixelated image which was very visible when used to emboss.

Lazer Cutting

As part of the concept for the business cards we want to have our logo embossed into the front, we thought a good way of doing this might be to use the lazer cutter to cut the logo out and use a press to emboss it this worked to an extent although once the letters had been cut out accurately sticking them back down was very tricky.

Dock Street Market

As a group we thought it would be a good idea to go down to Dock Street Market as this is where the next inpress event will be held and previously only Sadie and I had been down there, we went had a cuppa and disscussed the space between ourselves and the management.

Spur Poster

This is the design for the Spur Magazine pull out printed and complete. Each poster is different as they are all screen printed. This gives a really nice effect and illustrates what we are all about. The stock used is arround about 80gms white paper, this is for two reasons we firstly thought the bright white was a good contrast to the marneled effet of the pack ground and secondly and perhaps with this particular project unfortunatly more importantly it was cheap stock as they will all be given away for free and we had little to know budget to work with.

Spur Magazine

Spur Magazine, a government funded magazine about local creatives is having an article on Inpress and the four of us as designers, as well as an interview they want a free pull out poster. The idea for this was quite simple, to create somthing that represented both parts of Inpress the illustration side and the more type driven side. We wanted to use these to elements to produce one poster.
