This is a mock up, and some first ideas of the general layout and look of the zine. I like the large images I feel they make for an engaging for a younger audience, for example if they don't want to read or find the reading difficult there are interesting images to engage and inform the reader.

Mock up of Zine
Zine Development
Changing the font arround
I have tried meessing arround with a few different fonts that I like and think would work apropreatly. The inicial font i used was Helvetica Neue, and I dont see that changing, although some of the following fonts work, i feel they dont have the same asthetics as good old Helvetica. Perhaps it is due to the fact I have used in the inicial stages of the design and it now just fits, due to me being used to it. If this is the case I dont see this as a problem as it looks pretty good.
Space Zine
As a part of my revised rational I proposed that I create a magazine to work in conjunction, with my other deliverables. The front cover of the zine is based on a picture I found of the moon landings. I tried to make the design minimal focusing on the image. There are so many great images taken through the years within the human space program, I wanted to include this within the magazine to inspire young people to want to learn more about space exploreation, handily there is a ficticious excibition about the past 50 years of manned space exploreation.

Revised Rational
(Revised) Concept Statement
GOOD IS... Manned Space Exploration
Why?
- The advances in technology.
- The collaboration between nations.
- Discoveries.
- The human achievement of space exploration.
- Commercial space travel
I intends to (inform/instruct/persuade/direct/educate/promote to)
Inform, educate and promote manned space exploration over the past 50 years.
...a group of (identify your specific audience or context)
School students aged 11-16.
...that (state your message, idea, concept)
To show the achievement of manned space exploration.
In order to achieve this I will produce...
A free magazine, that will run along side an exhibition at the National Space Centre that documents
and celebrates the past 50years of manned space
exploration. I will also design the promotional materials to go in
schools across the country as well as the streets for public view. The
magazine will be placed in schools and libraries to encourage people to
see the exhibition.
Product- what is your product
Posters, banners, fliers and main shots to publicise the exhibition and magazine.
Range- what range of deliverable will you produce/propose
Large scale posters and promotional materials surrounding the exhibition at NSC and the launch of the magazine.
Context- define the context in which your product will exist/be viewed
There
will be posters and magazines in schools and libraries. There would
also be large scale posters, banners and billboards in strategically
placed parts of towns and cities to involve parents as well as the
children.
Concept Crit 19/10/2011
The
crit was very beneficial, it made me realise the holes in my project
and knowledge of what I was trying to produce, I fell now that my idea
was on a small scale, not pushing any boundaries . Through talking with
the people in my group I can now go away and re evaluate where I am with
my good and how I plan to deliver it.

InDesign Induction Design for Print
Indesign has less stock swatch colours that Illustrator. you can use
these colours or add new ones to apply colour to text and shapes,
applying to either fill or stroke. 'x' swaps between fill and stoke.
More options with text apply to background or text.
Swatch
options new swatch to create a new swatch for pallet, all Indesign
swatches are automatically 'global'. swatches allow different tints and
are all liked to the original therefore it is possible to change the
CMYK percentage.
Pantone colour can be added and again tints can be made of the Pantone colours.
When importing files into InDesign from;
Photoshop - Colour CMYK/Greayscale
300DPI
Actual size- should not have to resign or adjust in InDesign should all be done in Photoshop
Format TIFF or PSD
Illustrator - Colour CMYK
Format AI
Always place file in document using 'place' file. when placing file
frame will automatically place as well no need to make a frame.
The
swatch colours from the dutone PSD file are automatically added to
swatch pallet, similarly with illustrator art work a frame and the
colours are automatically imported into the document / swatch pallet.
with
an illustrator art work only the artwork is placed and not the
background. you can select show import options for more import options
for example transparency.
PDFs can be placed in InDesign but you must work with import options.
link
pallet shows all the likes in Indesign and if there are any missing.
Indesign uses links to make the file quicker and smaller.
If you adjust an illustrator file it will automatically update in Indesign.
Quick key 'Alt' then double click the illustrator link and it will open the original file.
With a TIFF file you can create a monochrome image using Indesign but only with grey scale image.
select the image not just the frame and fill with spot colour.
Colour seperation:
if you where to use a normal printer you would get a composite print.
print options separation ink section show what inks are in use. In commercial print these would be different printing plates.
You can preview your colour separation using window, output, colour separation
Use a Pantone separation when special printing and tell the printer which colour you want replacing with varnish or glue etc...
